PARENTS HELPING STUDENTS HAVE A SUCCESSFUL TESTING EXPERIENCE

State testing begins in our district on Tuesday, April 15th and ends on Tuesday April 30th. Students will be taking the assessments on their Chromebooks again this year. There are a few things parents can do to ensure students have the best possible testing experience.

Device
All students will need to use their district issued Chromebook for the assessments. Personal devices such as a MacBook or Windows laptop are not permitted due to test security requirements.  If your student is using a loaner Chromebook while their computer is being repaired, that is acceptable and it will not affect their ability to take the exam.

Smart Watches
Students will not be permitted to wear smart watches (Apple Watch for example) on testing days. If your student has one of these, please make sure he/she leaves it at home on testing days.

Charging
Chromebooks should be fully charged each night prior to the exam. The AIR exams range from 90 to 105 minutes in length. A fully charged Chromebook should easily last the length of the exam. If for any reason the device does run out of power during the exam, students can use a spare Chromebook or plug their computer into an outlet to finish the remainder of the exam.

Appointment Calendar
Please double check your appointment calendar to ensure that your child will not miss any school before 10:00 am on testing days.

CFMS RECOGNIZED AS AN OHIO SCHOOL TO WATCH FOR 2019

Chagrin Falls Middle School is proud to share that the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grade Reform has recognized our school as an Ohio School to Watch for 2019.  The program seeks to recognize a small number of diverse, high-performing, growth-oriented middle grades schools to demonstrate what all middle grades schools are capable of achieving.
The criteria is based on:
Academic Excellence where students are challenged to extend their minds.
Developmental Responsiveness as staff is sensitive to the unique developmental challenges of early adolescence.
Social Equitability that depicts fairness in order to provide every student with high-quality teachers, resources and supports.
Lastly, an organizational Structure/Process in place in order to enable the aforementioned three characteristics.

CFMS will be recognized at the National Schools To Watch Conference June 26 - 29, 2019 in Washington, DC.  We will also be awarded at The Ohio Middle Level Association November 7 -8, 2019, Columbus, OH.

This staff and CFMS care very much about the middle level student and work tirelessly to provide them with the very best education that reaches the mind, body and spirit of each individual Tiger.
