At CFMS, recess + chess = recHess!

Thanks to a PTO grant, the energy is high each week as our middle school students gather for a friendly (and sometimes fierce) chess tournament. Students are learning new strategies from peers, building connections, and challenging themselves in a supportive environment.

Thank you to our PTO for providing the chess sets, timers, and fun prizes that make recHess a highlight of the week! 🧡🖤

Last day in D.C.! ❤️🤍💙🐯 Despite the government shutdown, our 8th graders made the most of their final day in Washington! In a stroke of incredible luck, some of the group met a Capitol Architect outside the Capitol Building, who offered our students an impromptu private tour inside! 🏛️ They also explored the People’s House Museum, where they got a hands-on look at the magic of the White House, and wrapped up their day at the breathtaking National Cathedral. #ChagrinSchools #CFtogether #ChagrinTigers #ChagrinFalls 🧭✨

Our 8th graders have arrived in Washington DC! After an early start they visited Arlington National Cemetery where they saw the Changing of the Guard Ceremony. They were lucky to also see a wreath ceremony with Ukrainian soldiers. We hope to share a few highlight of their trip over the next few days. ❤️🤍💙🐯

📚 Our 7–12 Library Media Specialist, Ms. Sargiovanni, turned study hall into a place to play, create, and connect. Students enjoyed:

🔍 Scavenger hunts
🤝 And plenty of time to catch up with friends

Throwback Thursday takes us back to 1985, when our yearbook photographers caught longtime high school custodian Ray Markuszka in action, raising the flag.

Ray’s spirit and dedication left a lasting mark on Chagrin Schools. Yesterday, we carried on his legacy by presenting our 20-year service award, now named in his honor, to this year’s recipients.
